New Product: Fiber Power Gluten Free Granola

EAST HARTFORD, CONN. – In response to a growing demand for gluten free products and a lack of high fiber products within the category, gluten free granola manufacturer Bakery On Main announced today the availability of its new line of gluten free high fiber granola, Fiber Power. This is good news for individuals with Celiac Disease, an autoimmune response to gluten that affects approximately 1% of the U.S. population, and others who follow a gluten free diet due to intolerance or other health reasons.

The FDA recommended daily fiber intake is 20 - 35 grams per day for older children, adolescents and adults. The majority of packaged high-fiber products contain gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and most oats due to cross-contamination with other gluten-containing grains. Not surprisingly, medical research shows that people on gluten free diets tend to eat inadequate amounts of fiber. Bakery On Main Fiber Power contains nine grams of fiber per half cup serving, making up approximately one-third of the FDA’s recommended daily intake. The wheat-free, gluten-free product gets its fiber from whole grain certified gluten free oats and pre-biotic Inulin fiber from Jerusalem artichoke.

In addition to the high-fiber benefits, Fiber Power is also dairy and casein free, trans fat free, cholesterol free, low in sodium, low in saturated fat, all natural with no genetically modified organism (GMO) ingredients and Kosher OU Parve. According to Michael Smulders, founder of Bakery On Main, Fiber Power also has a
great taste not often found in high fiber products. “Since the beginning, it has been my mission to create products that are not only good for you, but taste good too, and our new Fiber Power granola is no exception,” said Smulders. “After all, that’s what we’re all about here at Bakery On Main, good health and happy taste buds living together in harmony.”

Fiber Power is available in Cinnamon Raisin and Triple Berry flavors in a 12 oz. resealable bag. Suggested retail price is $5.99. Fiber Power is immediately available for purchase on www.bakeryonmain.com, and will begin appearing on shelves in independent natural foods stores as well as major supermarket chains nationwide within the next few months.
